한국의 남쪽 끝, 현무암과 바람과 바다로 이루어진 섬.

한국에서 가장 강한 태양이 내리쬐고, 가장 거센 바람이 불고, 그러나 가장 깨끗한 물이 흐르는 곳.

척박한 땅에서 자라는 것들은 부드럽지만 쉽게 꺾이지 않습니다.

그것이 제주가 가르쳐준 것입니다.

 

The Pure Lotus was born in Jeju. At the southernmost edge of Korea lies an island shaped by basalt, wind, and sea. It is a place where the strongest sunlight in Korea shines, the fiercest winds blow, and yet the purest waters flow. Things that grow from this rugged land are gentle, but they do not break easily. That is what Jeju has taught us.

 

#아버지의 땅, 어머니의 바다

 

창업자의 아버지는 섬의 동쪽 끝 성산 난산리 출신입니다.

현무암이 깔린 척박한 땅, 바람이 세고 돌이 많아 농사도 힘들던 곳.

어머니는 섬의 서쪽 하귀, 해녀의 딸입니다. 바다에 들어가 숨을 참으며 살아온 여자들의 후손.

동쪽의 척박한 땅과 서쪽의 깊은 바다, 제주의 두 끝이 이 브랜드의 뿌리입니다.

Leaves torn by the wind can actually absorb sunlight more efficiently for photosynthesis. At sunrise, the flower turns toward the sun. As the sun moves across the sky, it follows its path, then gently closes at dusk—only to bloom again the next morning. Every day, with remarkable precision.

창업자의 어머니, 연꽃 화가 강명순은 연꽃이 아름다워서 그린 것이 아닙니다.

연꽃의 이면을 보았기 때문입니다.

연꽃은 지구상 가장 오래된 고대 식물 중 하나입니다.

한국에서는 고려시대의 연꽃 씨앗이 수백 년이 지난 후 다시 발아했습니다.

씨앗 속에 생명력이 꺼지지 않고 응축된 채 수백 년을 기다렸다가, 다시 피어난 것입니다.

그러나 그 안에는 수천 년을 버텨온 생명력이 응축되어 있습니다.

어머니는 그 이면을 보았고 그렸습니다.

 

On the surface, it is softer and quieter than any other flower. Yet within it lies a life force that has endured for thousands of years. Her mother saw that hidden strength, and she painted it.

저는 그 힘을 성분으로 증명하고 싶었습니다.

연꽃은 단순히 아름다운 꽃이 아니라 과학적으로 강인한 효력을 가졌고,

그것을 피부에 적용하고 싶었습니다. 이것이 2017년 더퓨어로터스를 시작한 이유입니다.

 

어머니의 붓이 연꽃의 이면을 담았다면, 딸은 그 생명력을 성분으로 증명했습니다.

From My Mother’s Canvas to Skincare Ingredients I wanted to prove that strength through ingredients. To me, the lotus was not simply a beautiful flower. It possessed scientifically remarkable resilience and efficacy, and I wanted to bring that power to the skin. That is why I founded The Pure Lotus in 2017. If my mother’s brush captured the hidden side of the lotus, her daughter sought to prove its vitality through science and ingredients.
